BIG NEWS!!!

Yesterday I passed two tests with flying colors! Scott and I are going to have a baby! Yes, I know we were saying that we wanted to wait a few years, but God has a differnt plan for us and we're happy to follow His desires for us.

I was so nervous to tell Scott (he was already at work when I took the test.) When he got home from work yesterday I surprised him with a little gift. It was a burp cloth with yellow submarines on it that said "I LOVE DADDY." He unfolded it with the embroidered side facing down, I had to tell him to flip it over, he looked at me and said "Face, are you pregant?" (Yes, we call each other Face...I don't remember how it started.) I just said, "Open your card!" The card said "Let the cravings begin..." and had pictures of ice cream and pickles on the front, the inside then said "We're Expecting!" He said, "Really? Are you kidding?" I started to cry a little and said, "Nope. We're pregnant!" We hugged and got excited.

I'm actually really surprised at his reaction, I thought he would have been a little more scared/nervous than he was. He's so awesome, he's going to be such a great dad! We went to Carter's and bought bibs for the grandmas and brought them over to them. Needless to say, both sides of our family are very excited for us! It's the first grandbaby for both of our parents! (Scott's brother Riley even put "Riley's gonna uncle it up!" as his status on myspace.)
From what I've read and figured out, I'm six weeks pregnant and the baby should be due around mid-November! Crazy, huh?

Bathroom conversations

Scott and I were getting ready for church this morning. Here's how the conversation went...sort of...
Scott: You look like you're a black guy.
Christina: (confused look) Uh, what?
Scott: You look like you're a black guy.
Christina: (confused look still, turns to mirror, realization) I look like I have a black eye!

So my husband doesn't think I look like a black guy. Darn, there goes my career as Barack's double.

The black eye was smudged makeup from yesterday...by the way I couldn't figure out how to spell smudged just now. Smugged...schmugged? Geez...

Partners

Yes, I realize Valentine's Day was two weeks ago, but I wanted to post this. I thought it was funny coincidence that Scott and I picked the same bag for each other's gift...we're just that in sync. Little things like that make me so happy we're together! He's such a great partner!

Keeping Warm

Who needs to turn on the heater when you can dress like this?

Check out how fierce my cheekbones look in that shot! I could totally be ANTM!

I'm currently wearing a beanie, Scott's thermal shirt, a coral 3/4 sleeved shirt, a sweatshirt and hood, a pair of yoga pants, some Scottie dog pajama pants and my cocktail pajama shorts. Granted the shorts aren't really doing anything to add to the warmth, they were just add for comic effect.

What's Scott wearing? A polo shirt and jeans. Does anyone else have this problem?

PS: The cup I'm drinking out of smells like barbeque sauce. Just thought I'd share. Sorry I have nothing of substance.

Botanical Gardens

Scott and I went down to the UCR Botanical Gardens yesterday to take a picture for our first Christmas cards. Turned out pretty cute! Here's some other shots I snapped. I like the small depth of field on the red berry thingies. And I just liked the way the vines were curling around the chain. And of course, the lens flare from the sun coming through the trees is one of my favorite things.

Festival of Lights

So, I said earlier tonight two posts back, that with my new job Scott and I actually get time together at night. Last night we went downtown to hear my lovely mother-in-law sing at the Festival of Lights with the Empire Swing Orchestra. She was great! She always is! If you get a chance you should check out one of her many shows during the holiday season.

Notice the lens flare Scott got on the shot of me. He makes me so proud!

Quick Before Sinking's also playing at the Festival of Lights on December 17th. You should definitely come down for some fun Christmas songs and great music! The hot apple cider and the funnel cakes are good too!

Great Sabbath

Yesterday was awesome! It was the first day in a long time where neither Scott or I had any plans for the whole day! We got to spend great quality time, just the two of us! It was amazing and reminds me of why I love him so much, not that I forget, but just a little reminder.

Once we finally got out of bed, he made chocolate chip waffles, the eggo kind because we never got a waffle maker, but they were delicious! After breakfast we went to Target to return some gloves I bought him (wrong size) and to Old Navy in search of a new peacoat. I didn't find any I liked, but Scott bought two new shirts. We headed to the mall, Macy's was a peacoat dud, but JCPenney's saved the day!

I found this cute, gray, wool/cashmere blend peacoat for almost 75% off! The tag said $180, but the sale sign said $48! What a steal! It's warm and cute and Scott convinced me to get gray instead of black because it made my hair stand out more. :] I like when he points out stuff like that.

After peacoat shopping we headed to WinCo, picked up some groceries then headed home.

After a lil nap, I decided to get my haircut, but my girl Heather had already gone home for the day. She'll cut it Tuesday morning instead. On my way home I saw this awesome Chevy Bel Air. I played a little snaparazzi as he drove by.

Scott and I got a little cabin fever at home so we went on a little date. We went mini golfing at the Castle. Scott won, but only by a little bit. I scored a hole in one! It was a lot of fun!

I don't know if you know this, but I love repeating patterns, especially decorative tiles. Here's some I found at the park.

When we got home, our dinner was ready (thank you crockpot and rice maker!) We had sweet & sour meatballs and rice, pretty tasty!

Our dinner was accompanied by a few episodes of The Office. What a great day! Hope everybody else has a great weekend! now I'm off to make breakfast before Scott wakes up! Biscuits and gravy with sausage! Yum yum!

Trunk 'N' Treat 2007

Happy belated Halloween Bloggers! Hope everyone had a great time! Scott and I spent our first married Halloween at the Grove's Trunk 'N' Treat event. It was a lot of fun! Quick Before Sinking played minus Dave, plus Rodrigo, along with the Average White Haired Band. There was great music, food, treats, games, costumes and cute kids everywhere! Quite a few of the high school kids were running the game booths, I think it's awesome that they're involved! Scott and I went dressed as a '50's couple. I think we were pretty cute! I don't have any pictures of us together...sorry.

We also saw Keala and Ashley (no blogs?,) who looked adorable in her costume! And Holly (another non-blogger?) whose baby bump is so cute on her! And Jess and Gwyn looking beautiful as fairies! I love your black and pink glasses, by the way! Sorry, no pictures, I was slacking. I do have a picture of the guy that came as the Grove sticker!

Adam, Mark (no blog, but I met his sister last night, she has awesome hair) and Scott started their set with a couple acoustic songs and they were awesome! Mistake of My Life was fantastic! Then when Rodrigo joined up they rocked the stage with a few more, including two of my favorites, Heavy Metal Drummer and Come Together. These are my some of my favorites because I love watching Scott play on these! He has such a great time and it really shows! Their second set was even more fun! Sweet Child O' Mine (their swing version) and Hey Jude, my hands down favorite of the night! Any song with crowd participation's a winner in my book, plus it's Beatles!

Aggie chilled with me and sang the "na na na's" and the "get back JoJo" on Get Back. When the band was choosing their next song, she requested the Doors! There are people my age that don't even know the Doors, she's 4 and knows them! I'm always amazed at how smart she is! We also talked about Zeke and his family moving to "the top of America" and how much she's going to miss them. I reassured her that they'll be back to visit and they'll still be friends. We also talked about how her daddy's the greatest piano player, she said my husband's the greatest drummer and she thinks Jimi Hendrix is the grestest guitar player even though he's dead. Amazing! Then she just hung out with me while her dad and my hubby played a few more songs. (Adam and Jess, you guys have one of the greatest girls I know! Hanging out with her makes me excited to have kids of my own someday. Hope ours are as cool as yours!)

The Cross was another great one, especially when they got to the rockin' part! You could see the excitement on Scott's face when it got to "the fun part," he was fierce! Then Quick Before Sinking played together with the Average White Haired Band. It was like at the end of a charity show when all the artists get on stage together for the finale. Sweet Home Alabama and Freebird were awesome, even though I thought Scott's arms were going to fall off after the sixteenths toward the end. He nailed 'em, even without rehearsal. All in all, a great night filled with fun people and great music! Thanks guys!

And here's my pumpkins. I did fake ones this year as part of my autumn craft day. Wow...long blog! Only 22 more days til Thanksgiving!

Hubby Love

I had a really, really bad day at work today. So bad, I don't want to go back to the place I'm assigned. I came home, instantly starting complaining about my awful day. All I wanted to do was eat junk food and cry.
What does Scott do? Listen intently as I complain and fixes me a hot dog. Then when I demand more junk food, he offers me fruit instead. Although I was a little annoyed by it at the time, I appreciate the love behind it.
Sometimes I feel so dumb being married to him. Even if I have to deal with bathroom break-ins, snoring, or talking in his sleep (which he did just now as I wrote this blog,) I love him. For some reason, God put us together, and some how, God gives him the strength to put up with me and still love me when I'm mad and grumpy. Scott's amazing!

Completely unrelated...Thanks Kathy and Adam for filling me in on the google reader! It's going to make my blog reading much more efficient. That sounds a little oxymoronic.

I got married for this?

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being married and I love my husband more than words could ever say, but the past few days, some crazy, random things have happened in our apartment. Why didn't anyone tell me this stuff would happen?

Our apartment only has one bathroom and I usually lock the door when I'm in there. I was taking a shower before bed the other night when Scott knocks on the door, "Can I go to the bathroom?" I yell back, "If you can get in, I locked the door!" Next thing I know, I hear clanking and a pound on the door. I peek out around the curtain to see this...
HE BROKE INTO OUR BATHROOM! When I said, "If you can get in..." I was joking! Maybe I should have said, "I'll be done in two minutes."

On Friday, I was stuck in traffic coming home from work. A one hour drive took three hours, making me get home at 11:30pm. Normally, I come home have a snack and go to bed because I have to get up at 6am on Saturday for work, but that night, I stayed up with Scott watching tv. By the time I was ready for bed it was 1:30, only 5 hours away from when I needed to get up. Scott wasn't entirely ready for bed, so he turned on the tv in our bedroom. He asked what I wanted to watch. I said, "Whatever you want. I don't care, I'm going to sleep." Man, why on earth did I say that? Scott begins surfing through the channels only to land on BYU's tv station which was showing "PanJam: Brough Family Steel Band"
Of course, Scott being the amazing percussionist he is, he's completely intrigued. (I cannot express how annoying the sound of steel drums are when you're trying to go to sleep.) He watched for a couple minutes before I asked him to find something else. I roll back over, only to hear every 3 year olds favorite dinosaur singing, "I love you, you love me..." Never did I imagine that Barney would be the last straw. I went to sleep on the couch in peace and quiet. :]

This morning, my alarm went off at 7am, only to find Scott just waking up, and being flustered since he was supposed to be at work at 7. His alarm didn't go off. I got up to make sandwiches for his lunch, but little did I know the dangers I was going to encounter. As I spread mustard (my least favorite condiment) on the bread, my eye itched. So, I go to scratch it, not realizing that there was mustard on my finger.
I hope no one else has ever experienced mustard in their eye, but if you have, I am so sorry! It felt like acid burning through the layers of my left eyeball. For a minute there, I thought my eye might be removed and I'd have to wear an eye patch like Aunt Lily on "Pushing Daisies."
